🔥 1980 Greco EG 500 Les Paul Custom – Violin Burst 🔥
“Battle-Tested Japanese Legend Packed with Pure Mojo”
If you’re chasing that thick, rich, sustaining Les Paul tone with serious vintage character and none of the modern fluff, this 1980 Greco EG 500 delivers in spades. Built in the golden “Super Real” era of Japanese guitar making, this is a no-compromise Les Paul Custom copy that many players swear by — often comparing them favorably to Norlin-era Gibsons at a fraction of the price.
The Violin Burst finish is absolutely gorgeous — that deep, rich red gradient with golden undertones that looks classy under stage lights and screams old-school rock royalty. It has aged gracefully into a warm, lived-in beauty.
Condition & Honest Wear:
This guitar has tons of mojo and the playwear to prove it. Heavy forearm and back wear that tells decades of serious playing, along with small chips, scratches, and dings on the body, plus some on the front and back of the headstock. Nothing structural — no cracks, no major repairs — just a well-loved rock machine that wears its history proudly. The binding, inlays, and gold hardware still pop, giving it that premium Custom look with authentic battle scars.
Professionally Setup & Dialed In:
Fresh pro setup with comfortable action, spot-on intonation, and everything optimized for maximum tone and playability. The neck feels fantastic (classic 50s-style profile), the frets have life left, and it stays in tune while inspiring you to keep playing for hours.
Tone & Playability:
Loaded with powerful humbuckers that deliver thick, articulate mids, singing sustain, and that creamy, compressed Les Paul growl when you dig in. Roll back the volume for smooth, dynamic cleans with excellent touch sensitivity. Whether you’re playing classic rock, blues, hard rock, or modern tones, this thing has the warmth, punch, and harmonic complexity that only a well-made mahogany/maple set-neck Les Paul can provide. It’s heavy in all the right ways and balances beautifully.
Key Specs:
• Violin Burst finish over carved maple top on mahogany body
• Mahogany neck with bound rosewood fingerboard
• Gold hardware and split-diamond headstock inlay
• Period-correct tuners and electronics
• 24.75” scale length
Greco EG 500s from 1980 are cult favorites among tone chasers who know the real deal. They were built with serious attention to detail during FujiGen’s peak years and have only grown in reputation.
This one is priced right for its age, honest wear, and massive personality. Serious players only — this isn’t a safe queen, it’s a gig-ready tone monster ready to write new chapters in its rock ‘n’ roll story.
DM for more photos, videos, or to arrange a test drive. Comes with a gig bag. Don’t sleep on this one — guitars with this much soul and history don’t come around every day. 🎸💥

Our Guarantee
We stand behind every guitar we sell. “Good enough” is never good enough. Every instrument is inspected, set up, and tested by multiple people immediately before shipping. We deliver the highest standard of quality and have built a reputation as a three-time NAMM Top 100 Dealer since 2009. The Dude Abides.
Neck & Setup - (unless otherwise noted)
- Neck is perfectly straight with no truss-rod issues.
- Intonation is spot-on.
- Professionally set up with low action and new American-made strings.
- All frets are dressed, leveled, crowned (if needed), and all frets on all guitars are polished to shine like new with no divots.
Return Policy, Restocking Fees & No Tire-Kicking Policy
We follow Reverb’s 7-day return policy. However:
- You must notify us in writing within 3 days of delivery (per tracking) of your intent to return.
- Original shipping and return shipping costs are not refunded unless the guitar is damaged in transit or is significantly not as described.
- A 15% restocking fee applies to all returns for any reason other than damage in transit or significantly not as described.
We record demo videos of every guitar before shipping to document exact condition and performance. Additional photos, measurements, or in-hand descriptions are available upon request prior to purchase.
Minor adjustments and tweaks to a set up (for example to correct a slight buzz or truss-rod tweak) are normal after shipping due to carrier mishandling the package, climate & atmospheric changes, especially when moving from South Florida to colder or less humid environments. These slight issues do not constitute “significantly not as described.” Guitars must be returned in the exact same condition as received/advertised or additional repair/restocking fees will apply.
We are a small family owned and run business, not a big-chain retailer. We invest significant time, money and effort into every guitar. This is a NO TIRE-KICKING shop. There is no post purchase haggling or partial refunds. If minor cosmetic marks, tiny imperfections, or the possibility of a post-shipping setup tweak makes you uncomfortable, please do not buy. Plenty of large retailers offer free trials and can absorb shipping costs—we do not.

- All items can be shipped internationally. Buyer is fully responsible for all import duties, taxes, and customs fees.
