🔥 Vintage Gem Alert: Circa 1985 Tokai Goldstar Sound TST-60 in Three-Tone Sunburst! 🔥
Step back into the golden era of Japanese guitar craftsmanship with this authentic circa 1985 Tokai Goldstar Sound TST-60 — a premium Strat-style replica that many players and collectors still regard as one of the finest “non-Fender” Strats ever made.
This TST-60 captures the spirit and tone of a classic mid-’60s Strat with obsessive attention to detail, and it’s aged beautifully into a true player’s instrument.
Timeless Looks with Authentic Character
Dressed in a rich three-tone sunburst finish, this beauty features that warm gradient from deep amber to dark edges over a gorgeous flame or figured top — the kind of finish that only gets better with time. In excellent vintage condition with only minimal playwear for its 40-year age, it shows light honest marks of love but remains remarkably clean and well-preserved. No major dents, no heavy buckle rash, and the finish still shines with that classic polyester glow.
Playability That’s Pure Magic
The maple neck with its comfortable soft V-profile (signature on higher-end TST-60 models) feels fast, inspiring, and instantly familiar. It delivers that effortless vintage Strat response — smooth bends, lightning-fast runs, and a neck that encourages you to play for hours without fatigue.
This guitar has been professionally set up and meticulously dialed in by expert techs for optimal tone and playability. Expect low, buzz-free action, perfect intonation, and rock-solid tuning stability. The frets are in great shape, the rosewood fingerboard is smooth and inviting, and the vintage-style tremolo works smoothly for expressive dives and raises.
Tone That Delivers the Goods
Plug this Tokai in and you’ll hear why Goldstar Sound models earned such a strong reputation in the 1980s. The period-correct single-coil pickups deliver sparkling, bell-like cleans, rich quacky in-between tones, and biting, articulate leads with excellent dynamics and touch sensitivity. It has that bright, snappy attack and singing sustain that made these guitars favorites among serious players who wanted vintage Strat tone without the vintage price tag (or fragility).
Whether you play blues, classic rock, indie, funk, or country, this TST-60 covers it all with authority and soul.
Why This Tokai Stands Out
• Rare and desirable Goldstar Sound TST-60 model from the mid-1980s golden era of Japanese MIJ guitars
• Three-tone sunburst finish that photographs and plays like a dream
• Excellent vintage condition with minimal playwear — a true survivor
• Pro setup ready for immediate gigging or recording
• Built to the high standards that made Tokai legendary among tone chasers
This isn’t just a guitar — it’s a piece of history that plays and sounds as good today as it did when it left the factory. Serious players and collectors know these Tokai Goldstars can rival (and sometimes surpass) period Fenders in build quality and tone.
Don’t let this one slip away. If you’ve been searching for an authentic, inspiring vintage Strat-style guitar with real character and unbeatable playability, your search ends here.

Neck & Setup - (unless otherwise noted)
- Neck is perfectly straight with no truss-rod issues.
- Intonation is spot-on.
- Professionally set up with low action and new American-made strings.
- All frets are dressed, leveled, crowned (if needed), and all frets on all guitars are polished to shine like new with no divots.
Return Policy, Restocking Fees & No Tire-Kicking Policy
We follow Reverb’s 7-day return policy. However:
- You must notify us in writing within 3 days of delivery (per tracking) of your intent to return.
- Original shipping and return shipping costs are not refunded unless the guitar is damaged in transit or is significantly not as described.
- A 15% restocking fee applies to all returns for any reason other than damage in transit or significantly not as described.
We record demo videos of every guitar before shipping to document exact condition and performance. Additional photos, measurements, or in-hand descriptions are available upon request prior to purchase.
Minor adjustments and tweaks to a set up (for example to correct a slight buzz or truss-rod tweak) are normal after shipping due to carrier mishandling the package, climate & atmospheric changes, especially when moving from South Florida to colder or less humid environments. These slight issues do not constitute “significantly not as described.” Guitars must be returned in the exact same condition as received/advertised or additional repair/restocking fees will apply.
We are a small family owned and run business, not a big-chain retailer. We invest significant time, money and effort into every guitar. This is a NO TIRE-KICKING shop. There is no post purchase haggling or partial refunds. If minor cosmetic marks, tiny imperfections, or the possibility of a post-shipping setup tweak makes you uncomfortable, please do not buy. Plenty of large retailers offer free trials and can absorb shipping costs—we do not.
