🌑 1987 Charvel Model 5 HH – Battle Tested Black Beauty from the Golden Japanese Era! 🌑
Grab a neck brace cause once you plug this bad-ass in you're gonna be going full blown head-banging. Straight out of the legendary Charvel Japan Custom Shop (the same factory that built the monsters for the Sunset Strip gods), this 1987 Model 5 HH is pure ‘80s metal mayhem. This Charvel Model 5 has the looks and versatility that any metalhead could ask for. This beast is a rare find and is seldom seen outside Japan. The rock hard black finish, dual humbucking pickups, black hardware, USA Made Khaler locking trem, dark chocolate rosewood fingerboard (24 frets) with neck-through construction, and classic Charvel headstock make this a simple, yet ultimately rad guitar. If you’ve been hunting that perfect blend of shred-machine playability and authentic hair-metal swagger, stop scrolling — this is the one.
• Deep gloss black finish that still pops under stage lights like it’s 1987 all over again
• Double humbucker (HH) configuration with that classic Charvel bite — think early Warren DeMartini or Jake E. Lee tones on tap
• Basswood body, bolt-on maple neck with the ultra-fast “C” profile that made these Japanese Charvels famous
• Rosewood fingerboard, 22 jumbo frets, and the original Charvel-licensed Floyd Rose tremolo that stays in tune even after the wildest dive bombs
• Professionally set up with 9-42 strings, low action, perfect intonation — plug in and it absolutely rips right now
Full disclosure for the purists: two old body cracks (horizontal, running along the body mostly in line with the pickup screws that were professionally repaired decades ago. These are rock-solid, cleated, & glue --- Zero effect on playability or structural integrity. This axe has toured, shredded, and lived the life — the scars just prove it’s the real deal, not some closet queen.
Condition otherwise? Very nice player grade — light swirlies here and there, a couple tiny dings, honest buckle rash on the back, but nothing that photographs as “damage.” The neck is straight as an arrow, frets have tons of life, and the edge radius still feels lightning-fast.
This is the exact era when Japanese Charvels were widely considered better than their USA counterparts — flawless craftsmanship, killer pickups, and that mythical “it just plays itself” feel. They don’t come up often in black HH config, and when they do, they disappear fast.
Grab a piece of shred history that’s ready to melt faces tonight. No case, but will be packed like it’s headed to the Monsters of Rock tour.
