This is a real-deal 1988 Fender Japan STR-70 — a Pro Feel series super Strat that brings serious late-‘80s attitude and reliability in a battle-tested package.
Dressed in classic black with a maple fretboard, this HSS beast was built during Fender Japan’s golden era at the Fujigen plant. These guitars earned a stellar reputation for outstanding craftsmanship: tight neck fits, comfortable profiles, and hardware that performs like higher-end instruments.
Honest moderate playwear with soul:
• Light scratches, dings, and dents earned from real gigs and practice sessions
• Authentic vintage character: cool rust on the pickup poles and honest corrosion on the hardware — marks of a guitar that’s been plugged in and played hard for nearly 40 years
• A few dings on the back of the neck (normal for a working instrument)
• Overall, it’s in very nice shape for its age — solid, straight, and full of genuine mojo
Key Specs & Features:
• HSS pickup configuration — fat, hot humbucker in the bridge for aggressive rock/metal tones paired with bright, glassy single-coils in the middle and neck positions
• Fender EX Tremolo system (Floyd Rose licensed double-locking trem) — this thing stays in tune through aggressive dives, pulls, and flutter abuse. Built for stability and expressive whammy bar antics without the constant retuning headaches
• Maple neck with maple fretboard for snappy attack and that signature ‘80s speed
• Bolt-on construction, 22 frets, 25.5” scale & 12 Inch radius — everything a player needs for fast leads and rock-solid rhythm work
Freshly dialed in and ready to shred: Professionally set up for optimal tone, low and comfortable action, perfect intonation, and effortless playability across the entire neck. It delivers chiming cleans, funky quack, singing leads, and high-gain bite with equal authority.
From classic rock and blues to ‘80s hard rock, metal, fusion, and modern indie — this Strat covers it all with style. The black finish, maple board, and locking trem give it that sleek, no-nonsense look that still turns heads on stage or in the studio.
Not a pristine collector’s piece — this is a real player’s guitar with authentic ‘80s wear, proven Japanese build quality, and a killer locking trem that invites you to push it hard.
This 1988 STR-70 isn’t just a Strat — it’s a road-tested, dive-bomb ready Japanese workhorse that’s earned its stripes and still hungry for more

Neck & Setup - (unless otherwise noted)
- Neck is perfectly straight with no truss-rod issues.
- Intonation is spot-on.
- Professionally set up with low action and new American-made strings.
- All frets are dressed, leveled, crowned (if needed), and all frets on all guitars are polished to shine like new with no divots.
Return Policy, Restocking Fees & No Tire-Kicking Policy
We follow Reverb’s 7-day return policy. However:
- You must notify us in writing within 3 days of delivery (per tracking) of your intent to return.
- Original shipping and return shipping costs are not refunded unless the guitar is damaged in transit or is significantly not as described.
- A 15% restocking fee applies to all returns for any reason other than damage in transit or significantly not as described.
We record demo videos of every guitar before shipping to document exact condition and performance. Additional photos, measurements, or in-hand descriptions are available upon request prior to purchase.
Minor adjustments and tweaks to a set up (for example to correct a slight buzz or truss-rod tweak) are normal after shipping due to carrier mishandling the package, climate & atmospheric changes, especially when moving from South Florida to colder or less humid environments. These slight issues do not constitute “significantly not as described.” Guitars must be returned in the exact same condition as received/advertised or additional repair/restocking fees will apply.
We are a small family owned and run business, not a big-chain retailer. We invest significant time, money and effort into every guitar. This is a NO TIRE-KICKING shop. There is no post purchase haggling, returns without restocking fees or partial refunds. If minor cosmetic marks, tiny imperfections, or the possibility of a post-shipping setup tweak makes you uncomfortable, please do not buy. Plenty of large retailers offer free trials and can absorb shipping costs—we do not.
