🔥 1998 Gibson Les Paul Standard – Heritage Cherry Sunburst 🔥
Yamano Export • Battle-Worn Mojo Overlord • Premium Japanese Market Spec
This is a genuine player’s dream — a 1998 Gibson Les Paul Standard in stunning Heritage Cherry Sunburst that was originally a Yamano Export model, built for Japan’s most discerning guitar market.
Yamano Music (Yamano Gakki) has been Gibson’s premier distributor in Japan for decades. Known for their extremely high standards, Yamano guitars were hand-selected at the Gibson factory for superior wood, tops, and overall quality before being shipped to Japan. These “Yamano Export” instruments are highly regarded by collectors and players alike for their exceptional tonewoods and build quality — often considered among the best from that era.
Visuals & Honest Wear
The maple top is clean and beautiful, showcasing rich grain that pops under that deep, classic Heritage Cherry Sunburst finish. The back carries the story of a well-loved instrument: plenty of honest wear and tear from years of passionate playing and gigs. There’s a bit of peeling on the face of the headstock (a common, character-adding trait on well-played ‘90s Les Pauls). This guitar is loaded with authentic mojo — it feels alive, broken-in, and ready to inspire.
Upgraded & Dialed In
• Professionally set up and optimized for outstanding tone, sustain, and effortless playability. Straight neck, great frets, and perfect action that delivers all the growl and resonance a Les Paul should have.
• Upgraded Orange Drop tone capacitors — for smoother, richer, creamier tone roll-off and enhanced clarity.
• Gotoh tuners — precise, lightweight, and rock-solid tuning stability.
Provenance
This Yamano Export comes with its original Certificate, adding to the guitar’s history and collectibility.
That ‘98 Magic
1998 Les Paul Standards are praised for their lightweight mahogany bodies, carved figured tops, and hot pickups that deliver thick, singing sustain, vocal mids, and harmonically rich leads. This one goes from buttery cleans to roaring overdrive with just a flick of the knobs — pure Les Paul soul in a road-ready package.
Clean top. Worn back. Yamano-selected quality. Tons of soul. This isn’t a safe queen — it’s a tone monster with provenance that’s ready for its next chapter of making music.
Serious players and collectors only. If you want a Les Paul that already feels like an old friend, plays like a dream, and carries that special Yamano pedigree, this is the one.

Our Guarantee
We stand behind every guitar we sell. “Good enough” is never good enough. Every instrument is inspected, set up, and tested by multiple people immediately before shipping. We deliver the highest standard of quality and have built a reputation as a three-time NAMM Top 100 Dealer since 2009. The Dude Abides.
Neck & Setup - (unless otherwise noted)
- Neck is perfectly straight with no truss-rod issues.
- Intonation is spot-on.
- Professionally set up with low action and new American-made strings.
- All frets are dressed, leveled, crowned (if needed), and all frets on all guitars are polished to shine like new with no divots.
Return Policy, Restocking Fees & No Tire-Kicking Policy
We follow Reverb’s 7-day return policy. However:
- You must notify us in writing within 3 days of delivery (per tracking) of your intent to return.
- Original shipping and return shipping costs are not refunded unless the guitar is damaged in transit or is significantly not as described.
- A 15% restocking fee applies to all returns for any reason other than damage in transit or significantly not as described.
We record demo videos of every guitar before shipping to document exact condition and performance. Additional photos, measurements, or in-hand descriptions are available upon request prior to purchase.
Minor adjustments and tweaks to a set up (for example to correct a slight buzz or truss-rod tweak) are normal after shipping due to carrier mishandling the package, climate & atmospheric changes, especially when moving from South Florida to colder or less humid environments. These slight issues do not constitute “significantly not as described.” Guitars must be returned in the exact same condition as received/advertised or additional repair/restocking fees will apply.
We are a small business, not a big-chain retailer. We invest significant time and effort into every guitar. This is a NO TIRE-KICKING shop. There is no post purchase haggling or partial refunds. If minor cosmetic marks, tiny imperfections, or the possibility of a post-shipping setup tweak makes you uncomfortable, please do not buy. Plenty of large retailers offer free trials and can absorb shipping costs—we do not.
Payment, Shipping & International Duties
- All items can be shipped internationally. Buyer is fully responsible for all import duties, taxes, and customs fees.
- We accept PayPal, PayPal Credit, Affirm, and other major payment methods.
- Most U.S. shipments are sent via UPS or FedEx with full insurance, tracking, and signature confirmation. All packages are professionally packed for maximum protection.
