Fender Japan is highly regarded and the instruments that they produce there are some of the finest and most sought after in the world. Overall this is a kick ass P-Bass reissue that is clean and mean, it floats like a butterfly and stings like a bee! The Precision Bass was Leo Fender's big idea to have a bass that was fretted, like a guitar as opposed to the double-basses many early rock outfits were utilizing. The combination of a solid body with electronics and a fretted, maple neck like the Tele and Strat made the bass "precision", a player would now have the luxury of hitting the note right on instead of relying upon one's hand for proper intonation. This re-issue gives us a re-kindling of that now-famous spark, and a perfect vignette into the glory days of the fifties. The bass is ultra lightweight and resonant, with a keen, balanced feel. Plugged in this instrument exhibits a powerful tone with a broad dynamic range and beautifully voiced tonality. The neck is clean and true, and the bass sets up to a tee with low, precise action and smooth playability. It has a classic Fender C profile with plenty of girth as you move down the fretboard.
