🔥 1977 Greco EG-700 Cherry Sunburst – Lawsuit-Era Japanese Les Paul Beast!
Looking for classic Les Paul tone, feel, and vibe without the modern price tag? Meet this 1977 Greco EG-700 in rich cherry sunburst. Built in Japan during the legendary lawsuit era, this is a mid-to-upper tier model that still turns heads and delivers serious rock ‘n’ roll authority nearly 50 years later.
Crafted with the precision Fujigen and other top Japanese factories were famous for, it features a mahogany body with a solid carved maple top under a vibrant cherry sunburst finish that highlights the natural grain beautifully. The set neck (typically a slim, fast 60s-style profile) is paired with a bound rosewood fretboard, classic trapezoid inlays, and the kind of tidy fretwork that makes these early Grecos so player-friendly. Under the hood sit the original Greco/Maxon U-2000 humbuckers — warm, articulate PAF-style pickups that deliver clear highs, thick mids, and that unmistakable Les Paul crunch and sustain.
Condition is excellent for its age. You’ll find only a few light dings, dents, and surface scratches — honest wear that tells the story of a well-loved instrument while leaving the overall presentation clean and attractive. Nothing structural, nothing that affects the look from playing distance, and nothing that impacts the solid, resonant feel of this vintage single-cut.
Best of all, it’s been professionally set up and carefully dialed in for optimal tone and playability. Action is smooth, intonation is locked in, and the neck feels fast and comfortable right out of the gate. Plug it in and you’ll immediately understand why 1970s Greco EG models have such a strong following among players and collectors — they often rival or outperform many American instruments of the same era in consistency, resonance, and pure playability.
Whether you’re chasing authentic late-’70s Japanese craftsmanship, a reliable stage and studio workhorse with classic Les Paul voice, or simply a beautiful cherry-sunburst single-cut that punches above its weight, this 1977 Greco EG-700 is ready to rock.
Serious inquiries welcome — message for more photos and details. This lawsuit-era beauty is set up, sounding great, and waiting for its next owner!
These pre-serial FujiGen “lawsuit” models are getting harder to find every year, especially in this condition with original U-2000 pickups and that killer Iced Tea Burst. Serious players only. Don’t pass on the chance to take this beauty home and make her yours.
