🔥 1998 Fender American Vintage Reissue ’57 Stratocaster – Sunburst Nitro – Time Capsule Tone! 🔥
Looking for that genuine late-’90s Fender magic that captures the golden era of Stratocasters? This 1998 American Vintage Reissue 1957 Stratocaster in classic 3-Tone Sunburst with nitrocellulose finish is the real deal. Fender magic with an extra layer of provenance: This 1998 American Vintage Reissue 1957 Stratocaster in classic 3-Tone Sunburst with nitrocellulose finish was originally exported via Yamano Music to Japan.
Yamano Music (Yamano Gakki) is one of Japan’s most respected and longstanding musical instrument retailers and distributors. Founded in the late 19th century, Yamano built a reputation for importing premium American guitars and carefully selecting only the finest examples for the demanding Japanese market. Japanese players and collectors have long prized Yamano-sourced instruments for their exceptional quality control, attention to detail, and superior setup straight from the factory. Many consider Yamano-handpicked or Yamano-export guitars to be among the best of any given production run.
This particular AVRI ’57 perfectly embodies that standard. The nitro finish has aged gracefully, and the maple neck has developed a beautiful, warm vintage amber patina — giving it that smooth, broken-in feel that players love. It plays like a dream with the comfortable soft V neck profile and delivers all the authentic ’57 sparkle, quack, and dynamic response.
This guitar absolutely nails the look, feel, and sound of a well-played ‘57 Strat. The nitro finish has aged beautifully, developing that unmistakable patina over the years. The maple neck has turned a gorgeous, warm vintage amber color on the back — exactly the kind of honeyed tone players chase. It feels incredibly smooth and broken-in, like it’s been played by a pro for decades.
Condition Highlights:
• Overall in excellent shape for a 28-year-old guitar — clean, straight, and ready to gig or record.
• Only minor signs of honest age: a couple small lacquer burns from a hanger on the back, and a chip or two around the edge of the back of the headstock. A finish wear spot on the back of the neck.
• No major dings, dents, or scratches anywhere on the body.
• Tortoiseshell pickguard installed with zero extra holes — looks factory-correct and killer with the sunburst.
• Everything else is 100% original, including pickups, hardware, pots, tuners, and bridge. The electronics are quiet, responsive, and deliver that authentic ’57 sparkle, quack, and bell-like chime.
This AVRI ’57 Strat has the period-correct specs: lightweight alder body, 21-fret maple neck with a comfortable “soft V” profile, and those legendary vintage-style single-coil pickups that cut through a mix with clarity and dynamics most modern Strats only dream of. Plug it in and you’ll instantly hear why these reissues from the ’90s are still highly sought after by tone chasers — they got the recipe right.
Whether you’re chasing vintage Strat tones for the studio, stage, or your collection, this one delivers the goods without the price tag or fragility of a pre-CBS original.
Serious players only. This isn’t a beater — it’s a well-cared-for piece of Fender history that plays and sounds as good as it looks.

“If it ain’t broke… it still quacks like a ’57.”

Our Guarantee
We stand behind every guitar we sell. “Good enough” is never good enough. Every instrument is inspected, set up, and tested by multiple people immediately before shipping. We deliver the highest standard of quality and have built a reputation as a three-time NAMM Top 100 Dealer since 2009. The Dude Abides.
Neck & Setup - (unless otherwise noted)
- Neck is perfectly straight with no truss-rod issues.
- Intonation is spot-on.
- Professionally set up with low action and new American-made strings.
- All frets are dressed, leveled, crowned (if needed), and all frets on all guitars are polished to shine like new with no divots.
Return Policy, Restocking Fees & No Tire-Kicking Policy
We follow Reverb’s 7-day return policy. However:
- You must notify us in writing within 3 days of delivery (per tracking) of your intent to return.
- Original shipping and return shipping costs are not refunded unless the guitar is damaged in transit or is significantly not as described.
- A 15% restocking fee applies to all returns for any reason other than damage in transit or significantly not as described.
We record demo videos of every guitar before shipping to document exact condition and performance. Additional photos, measurements, or in-hand descriptions are available upon request prior to purchase.
Minor adjustments and tweaks to a set up (for example to correct a slight buzz or truss-rod tweak) are normal after shipping due to carrier mishandling the package, climate & atmospheric changes, especially when moving from South Florida to colder or less humid environments. These slight issues do not constitute “significantly not as described.” Guitars must be returned in the exact same condition as received/advertised or additional repair/restocking fees will apply.
We are a small business, not a big-chain retailer. We invest significant time and effort into every guitar. This is a NO TIRE-KICKING shop. There is no post purchase haggling or partial refunds. If minor cosmetic marks, tiny imperfections, or the possibility of a post-shipping setup tweak makes you uncomfortable, please do not buy. Plenty of large retailers offer free trials and can absorb shipping costs—we do not.
Payment, Shipping & International Duties
- All items can be shipped internationally. Buyer is fully responsible for all import duties, taxes, and customs fees.
- We accept PayPal, PayPal Credit, Affirm, and other major payment methods.
- Most U.S. shipments are sent via UPS or FedEx with full insurance, tracking, and signature confirmation. All packages are professionally packed for maximum protection.
